After months of uncertainty, Rye Playland has reopened for Memorial Day weekend.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, Congressman George Latimer, and more elected officials came together in Rye on Saturday to officially reopen the amusement park.
Hundreds of people came from all around the county to celebrate the park's opening.
Moving forward, the rides will open in sections.
Currently, 8 of the 21 children rides in Kiddy Land are open.
On the main park, five of the major attractions are open.
Despite the unseasonable weather, beaches also reopened today.
"Little by little we'll be introducing things and letting people know week by week what's happening," said Peter Tartaglia with Westchester County Parks.
Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26, the park’s admission and parking will be free!
For those interested, the park is still hiring for the summer season.
