Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney spoke to News 12 about his overseas trip with NATO allies and newly imposed Russian sanctions against him for his anti-Putin remarks.
The U.S. congressman was in Europe with the Committee Congressional Delegation and met with allies in Slovakia, Poland and Latvia, as well as members of the Ukrainian Parliament to discuss U.S aid and what support is needed.

He returned to the Hudson Valley late Friday night and spoke with News 12 Monday.
“None of us are concerned about these empty gestures from the Russian dictator,” Maloney said about the sanctions. “What we are concerned about is that he’s killing innocent people by the thousands in Ukraine and is a threat to our national security. We need to make sure he fails.”
Maloney also met with American troops stationed overseas for the U.S. humanitarian effort.
Hudson Valley native Major Duncan Walker and several New Yorkers were among those troops.
