Community members and organizations in Rockland County opened a new community garden on Friday.
The new green space is behind the Rockland YMCA in Nyack.
The idea that was two years in the making is now complete with picnic tables, raised garden beds, and other plants that transform the space.
"It's amazing. It is 10 times better than I could ever imagine and that's because of the help of our community," said John Dillon, of the Rockland YMCA.
"It was really great to be able to communicate with the students, be here with them, talk to them and work together," said Gianna Maltbie, of Clarkstown For Climate.
The Rockland YMCA said it may use the vegetables that are grown in the garden for cooking classes in the future.
