A Rockland County man is back at work today after recovering from Legionnaires' disease, according to County Executive Ed Day's office.
Last Friday, the Chromalloy facility in Orangeburg was shut down by the company after the worker's diagnosis. The company then had the building's cooling system sanitized as a precaution.
The Legionella bacteria is sometimes found in the water mists from cooling systems.
Recently, more than 100 people have been infected in the Bronx, and 12 have died from Legionnaires'.
There have now been three cases reported in Rockland County this summer, none of them connected. Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Rupert says that's a normal number for this time of year.
