Rockland County Executive Ed Day is back at work Tuesday after undergoing prostate cancer surgery last week. 

Day has been resting at home since his surgery at a hospital in New York City.

He hopes to help bring awareness to the dangers of prostate cancer.

According to Day, the cancer was detected early and his prognosis is excellent. 

"I have a very high probability of an excellent prognosis and excellent recovery chances, so I feel good about it. I'm a little sore which would be normal for someone whose had the surgery but all in all I feel very very good. I feel very positive that's more important right now," he said.

Day will be working on a limited schedule for now as he recovers.
