With just one week to go before Election Day, the League of Women Voters invited Rockland's county executive candidates to a virtual debate Tuesday.
Incumbent Rockland County Executive Ed Day and his Democratic opponent, L'Tanya Watkins, addressed questions and concerns - from going green to supporting the county's seniors to improving roads and water studies.
Most of the debate was cordial, but the conversation got heated when it came to addressing affordable housing in Rockland.
Watkins says many minority communities are struggling because of the pandemic and need more help from the county.
Day says his team has been working with nonprofits in various neighborhoods to address employment needs and food insecurity and that he would be happy to reach out to more community partners to make sure everyone is aware of the help available to them.
