In 2024, two longtime friends who love to read decided to open a shop together. With the support of family, friends and the community, Montgomery & Taggert was opened and became Connecticut's first romance novel bookshop.

The shelves are lined with historic novels, classic romance and new releases. The store prides itself on "being a very diverse and representative bookshop," and they are also are thrilled to have independent authors on our shelves.

Some local authors are from Connecticut, and even Chester.

Foams and Fables, the monthly book club, takes place at Little House Brewing Company where you can talk romance and sip craft beer pairings. The bookshop also participates in First Friday Fun — and donates 10% of proceeds to a different charity monthly.
