Bear Mountain Bridge Road in Cortlandt reopened around 5 p.m. after police investigated a tractor-trailer crash.
According to state troopers, the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound toward the bridge on Route 6/202 when it struck a stone wall. The trailer, which was loaded with sheetrock, became detached from the cabin.
The vehicle was left teetering off the roadway, with a drop below into a wooded area. It did not appear from photos of the scene that the trailer was in danger of falling. A crane was on the scene.
The roadway was closed between Roahook Road and the Bear Mountain Bridge for several hours before it reopened.
