Westchester County is blasting a key component of the Ridge Hill project settlement signed off by Yonkers, Greenburgh and two of their villages.

The judge who helped spur the settlement is set to give it final approval January 12. The deal includes a five-member task force designed to fight for a new access road from the Sprain Brook Parkway to cut down on traffic. However, county officials say a new entrance ramp to the controversial development will never happen because it would have to go through parkland. Officials stress they are not against the development itself, just the access road.

Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick says he understands the county?s concern about preserving its parkland. However, he feels a consensus on a new access route into the massive development can still be reached, saying both sides have five years to work out that part of the project.
