A retired Carmel police officer has been charged in connection with a fatal car crash.
State police say Richard O'Keefe, 57, was drunk when he struck a car on Route 6 in Mahopac.
A passenger in the car, 54-year-old Frances Ghelarducci, of Mahopac, was killed. She was a teaching assistant at the Primrose Elementary School in Somers.
O'Keefe faces charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter.
