As temperatures climbed to oppressive numbers, people across the Hudson Valley tried their best Sunday to stay cool.
News 12 spoke with residents at a flea market in Yonkers who used umbrellas and hats to keep out of the sun, and carried lots of water.
For people who avoided the heat by staying indoors, Con Edison offered some energy-saving tips.
The utility said to set air conditioners to the highest comfortable temperature because every degree lower can drive up the bill by 6 percent.
It also recommended keeping shades and blinds closed, since nearly 40 percent of unwanted heat comes through the windows.
