Opponents of a proposed zoning change that would bring senior housing to Hastings on Hudson are speaking out.
Neighbors packed a public hearing last night to voice concerns about a proposal to change zoning laws that would allow for more senior housing.
According to village officials, a builder presented plans for developing property at the very south end of Warburton Avenue into a memory care facility.
In addition, officials from the Andrus Nursing Home located on Old Broadway approached the village board saying they were interested in adding independent living facilities to their property.
Opponents are concerned the changes would ruin the atmosphere of the village and are worried that the zoning changes will decrease property values and put a burden on taxpayers.
It could take months before the issues are resolved because public hearings will end later this month, and then the board will go into deliberations.
