Mount Vernon residents say a house destroyed by fire almost a year ago has not been demolished and is now a dangerous eyesore in the community.
The home at 232 South Third Ave. was scheduled to be torn down several times, but still remains on the street, residents say. According to the mayor's office, the landlord was responsible for the demolition.
Residents say the abandoned and gutted home has attracted rats and drug dealers. A spokesperson for the mayor says the city will bill the landlord if the home isn't demolished before Saturday.
