Many people flocked to Rye Beach on Monday to stay cool in the heat.
Lifeguards at Oakland Beach in Rye reminded people to stay hydrated.
"People don't hydrate themselves, people lay out and fall asleep, lose track of time. Some people have umbrellas, some just love the sun, and sometimes it presents a problem on a day like today," said lifeguard supervisor Howard Hollander.
Charley's Pier Restaurant and Tiki Bar is right on the water, and Sam Garcia, of the Bronx, said it was a perfect spot to chill out on a hot day.
"We like to come here. It's right by the ocean, the wind comes in off the ocean, feels great right here," he said.
A hat, some sunscreen and even a little personal fan might help as the area goes through at least two more days of what could be the first official heat wave of 2021.
