Spring Valley's mayor was sent to jail last summer for contempt of court and now some residents are invoking a seldom-used state law that would allow the state appellate court to remove him for violating the law.
Spring Valley resident Tammy Booth and two other residents want a state appeals court to remove Mayor Demeza Delhomme from office.
Last summer, Delhomme spent several days in the Rockland County Jail for failing to follow a court order.
In addition, it is alleged that the mayor regularly violated civil service law by hiring, firing or transferring village employees without proper authority. He also allegedly used village property for personal use, among other allegations.
News 12 contacted Delhomme by phone, but he would not respond to the allegations in the suit.
He will have to respond to the court by Feb. 9. It is not known who will handle Delhomme's case. The village attorney he appointed recently resigned.
