Report: MTA faces "the greatest crisis" in its history

of the pandemic, according to state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli in a new
report.
DiNapoli says MTA ridership
is expected to drop 67% from last year, and likely won't return to 2019 levels for
another three years.
He says if the MTA does not
received federal help, unprecedented service cuts and workforce reductions will
follow.
The MTA has an outstanding
request for $12 billion from the federal government to balance its budget
through 2021, but it remains uncertain what, if anything, will be forthcoming.
