Rep. Lowey offers her thoughts on the transition of power.

Lowey issued the following statement on the victory of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris:

President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris are uniquely suited to tackle the nation’s greatest challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and gun violence. I am confident they will heal the division fueled by the current administration.

I am particularly delighted that Vice President-Elect Harris has shattered glass ceilings for women and girls everywhere. The election of a Black and South Asian American woman is particularly significant, as she will bring a new perspective to the highest level of government.

President-Elect Biden’s campaign message was about unity, and that is why he won. The American people opted to prioritize our core values. The Biden-Harris administration will crush the coronavirus and build back better, making the United States a more prosperous, more just, and more equitable nation.
