Yonkers native rapper DMX finally made an appearance in a White Plains court Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued.
The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, faced speeding and other traffic charges. Simmons failed to show up to a court appearance Wednesday after he was granted two postponements. The judge ordered Simmons held on $25,000 bail and he was led off to jail in handcuffs.
Simmons? lawyer says the reason his client didn?t show up in court Wednesday was because he was sick. While the lawyer agreed with the penalty for failing to appear, he says the amount was unreasonably high. Simmons was arrested during a traffic stop on Mamaroneck Avenue for driving with a suspended license earlier in June. He will return to court on July 24 to face that charge.
