Angry Ramapo residents showed up to Wednesday night's board meeting to call for the resignation of Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence following his corruption arrest.
"St. Lawrence has been a controversial figure for many years. He engenders a lot of emotion. There were many people there last night who are ardent supporters, and a lot of people who were not," said town attorney Michael Klein.
Despite a protest prior to the meeting and continued negative chants inside the meeting, those who want St. Lawrence out said their request for his resignation is falling on deaf ears.
The group Preserve Ramapo plans to hold an event on Sunday to celebrate St. Lawrence's indictment.
While they see it as a step forward, they say Ramapo has a long way to go.
