Officials in Mamaroneck issued a limited state of emergency Friday in preparation for expected heavy rainfall.
It is in effect until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Rain is predicted to reach up to 2 inches, possibly causing the Sheldrake and Mamaroneck rivers to rise.
Business owners are expecting possible flood waters to swamp their stores like it did two years ago. Some would like the Army Corps of Engineers to prevent such problems this time around by digging rivers deeper and wider.
Village Mayor Kathleen Savolt urges residents to remain calm and remember the declaration is precautionary.
