Putnam County reports higher-than-average cases of tick-borne disease

Anaplasmosis can occur at any time of the year. Cases will typically peak in June and July.

New surveillance data from the Putnam County Department of Health has indicated higher-than-average cases of the tick-borne disease "anaplasmosis" in county residents in 2023.

Preliminary data shows 36 cases recorded through June.

Anaplasmosis can occur at any time of the year. Cases will typically peak in June and July.

The county Health Department recommends residents seek medical care if they become ill with symptoms compatible with anaplasmosis.
