Community members in Putnam County will come together Saturday in support of the Ukrainian people.
A vigil for Ukraine will take place on the Great Lawn outside Saint Mary's Church in Cold Spring at 12 p.m.
The community wants to stand in solidarity with Ukraine and take a strong stance against Russian aggression.
One Russian American woman is organizing the event and despite her connection to Russia, says she is horrified by the war and hopes this vigil will help unite Russians and Ukrainians.
"It's for all people. It's for Ukraine most of all. It's for Russia who is suffering. It's for the Russians who are silent that they stop being afraid to speak up," says Russian American Maria Reshetnikova.
An interfaith prayer service will follow the vigil at 1 p.m.
