Two people from Connecticut are facing drug charges in Putnam County.
The Sheriff's Department says they learned last month a man was involved in selling cocaine. An investigator arranged a buying opportunity at a motel in the Town of Southeast at the end of October.
Members of the department's Narcotics Enforcement Unit tried to arrest the suspected drug dealer in the parking lot. However, the car drove off, nearly hitting a member of the sheriff's office and narrowly missing a marked police car head-on.
During a chase, authorities say the people in the car threw what was believed to be cocaine out of the passenger window before it stopped.
A 32-year-old man and 37-year-old woman were charged.
