Purchase College has reinstated an indoor mask mandate amid rising cases of COVID-19.
According to recent numbers, Westchester County is currently home to 165 COVID-19 cases.
For this reason, officials at Purchase College say they decided to make masks mandatory for indoor public spaces on campus.
College president Milagros Pena believes the mandate is a necessity.
"So that we can end the semester healthy and well, be able to send the students home to their families also healthy and well,” she said.
As of now, Purchase is the only known Westchester college to have reinstated its mask mandate.
Although it is not instituting a mandate, Westchester Community College officials are urging students and faculty to take precautions by wearing a fitted mask inside public indoor spaces.
