Demonstrations to keep Good Counsel Academy from closing have gotten bigger, as more than 100 parents and students rallied outside the school Tuesday afternoon.
The Sisters of the Divine Compassion, who own the 16-acre property in White Plains, recently hired a real estate firm to sell the campus. A spokesperson for the school says the nuns are getting older, making it more difficult to maintain the school.
Parents at the rally say they felt blindsided by the news and want to know if they can raise money to keep the school open.
The school may be relocated to New Rochelle, but students say they want to remain in White Plains.
