Dozens of protesters gathered outside state Sen. John Bonacic's office in Middletown Monday calling on him to help stop child sex abuse.
Activists with New Yorkers Against Hidden Predators are calling on Bonacic to support increasing the statute of limitations for criminal and civil action involving child sex abuse crimes.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo introduced the change under the Child Victim's Act, which is included in next year's budget proposal.
Albany lawmakers have until April 1 to vote on the change in law.
In a statement, Sen. Bonacic said he is committed to the issue and making changes to current law.
