A large group marched through the streets of Yonkers on Sunday to protest the grand jury decision not to indict an NYPD officer for the chokehold death of Eric Garner.
The demonstrators gathered on Main Street and Palisade Avenue to pray and to demand an end to the violence that claimed the life of Garner, as well Michael Brown.
Garner died after he was put in a chokehold as he was arrested in Staten Island in July for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes. Brown was fatally shot by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri, back in August. Grand juries in both cases declined to indict the officers.
About 100 marchers continued onto Riverdale Avenue, then onto Prospect, and finally onto South Broadway. Most carried signs with messages including "Justice for All."
The peaceful march ended with a seven-minute "die-in" protest in front of Yonkers Police Headquarters.
