Sen. Mae Flexer and Rep. Gregg Haddad is proposing to change the requirements for child in rear-facing child restraint system.
Proposed Bill No. 1146 proposes any child under the age of 4 or weighing less than 40 pounds would have to be in a rear-facing car seat with a five-point harness.
"I come from a tall family, so my kid would not have enough room in the back they’d be scrunched up," said Chantel, a nanny.
The current law requires children under the age of 2 or weighing less than 30 pounds to use a rear-facing car seat.
The second part of the bill would require any business that sells child restraint system to include a pamphlet with each child restraint system that details the requirements of state law regarding child restraint systems.
