With more gun violence occurring this past week in Yonkers, one group is determined to continue its fight against crime.
Members of the Yonkers YMCA's Cure Violence program conducted a rally Friday afternoon in response to three shootings that all occurred in the past week.
John Thompson is the director of the program Project SNUG, or "guns" spelled backward. He says that when an area is repeatedly hit with violence, residents often become complacent and accept it, but he wants to assure them that they can make better lives for themselves.
"The whole idea is to bring it to their attention that this is controllable. We can respond to things in a better way, violence doesn't have to be the way," says Thompson.
