A national program is helping to locate missing people in Rockland County.
The Rockland County Sheriff's Office says Project Lifesaver helps police and first responders locate the elderly or children with disabilities who are prone to wandering off. It does this through a GPS bracelet the person wears.
Vulnerable people will get a small wrist or ankle transmitter to wear - which puts out a radio frequency signal allowing a trained response team to locate them - and return them home.
A $6,000 grant from the Alzheimer's Foundation of America will fund more transmitters and batteries.
