Republicans, like former Congressman Anthony D'Esposito, the president has delivered on a series of key campaign promises in less than two months. that he will highlight tonight.
“I think he's going to start with the success that he's had just in these short 50 days at our southern border,” says D’Esposito. “Then he'll talk about the work that he's done foreign policy wise”

But Democrats point to boasts then candidate Trump made on the campaign trail that he's yet to deliver on as president.
“I'm interested to hear how he has lowered prices as he promised on day one,” says New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs. “I see the price of eggs is still going up, and gasoline is not $2 yet, as he promised. We're throwing veterans out of jobs, we're threatening to cut Medicaid, so I don't think there's much good actually happening.”

Political science professor Dr. Christopher Malone of Farmingdale State College says the political reality is that now right now, the president is in a very strong position - and he knows it.
“The first thing I expect to hear is a victory lap,” says Dr. Malone. “Donald Trump is the first Republican president to win the popular vote in two decades, he owns Washington. He has both Houses of Congress. It should be a good show, but keep in mind the substance of this is the most important thing.”
