The state's attorney has released a report on a fatal police-involved shooting that happened in Stratford last Friday. They
say that officers from Stratford were responding to a call from the Naugatuck
Police Department to serve a warrant to 36-year-old Christopher Hagans, who was accused of home invasion and strangulation.
Officials say that Hagans was considered to be armed and dangerous.
Officers went to Hagans' home on Okenuck Trail, saw him get in a car and followed him to Main Street in the Putney section of Stratford - where a police cruiser blocked him.
They say Hagans - a Black man - was noncompliant when he was asked to show his hands.
Officials say an officer on the scene spotted a firearm and warned the others. Hagans then allegedly tried to drive off and collided with a police car.
They say that's when officers first fired at him. When Hagans' vehicle became stuck in the snow, he came out.
That's when officers fired again. Hagans was reported to have multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
Officials say six officers were on the scene, and four of them fired their weapons.
A firearm was found next to where Hagans was standing.
The shooting is being investigated by the state's attorney for the Judicial Court of Hartford.
