An Orange County family is one step closer to being able to spend Christmas in their new home after a News 12 report helped get their electric service turned on.
The Rider family says Orange & Rockland turned their power on at their new home in Mount Hope Friday— the day after the News 12 report.
The family was displaced while waiting months for their application for new service to go through. They have been living in a 30-foot travel trailer with four young children in the meantime.
Amanda Rider says until the family contacted News 12, they were “going in circles, getting autoreplies from every different department.”
She says after the family shared the case with News 12, the issue was resolved within hours.
The family says they are expecting a final inspection with the town this week to get a certificate of occupancy.
They say it seems their Christmas wish to be home for the holidays will come true.
