On Sept. 11, 2001, more than 2,700 people were killed when two planes crashed into the Twin Towers in Lower Manhattan.
Another 224 people died in two other plane crashes at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.
To this day, countless survivors and first responders continue to deal with 9/11-related illnesses. The FDNY recently released a report on the long-term health impacts of those who answered the call on Sept. 11, 2001.

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund is still helping those people who were living, working or going to school in Lower Manhattan 25 years ago and were ultimately impacted in the aftermath of Sept. 11.
