Poughkeepsie man pleads guilty to possessing child pornography

yesterdayA Poughkeepsie man has pleaded guilty after prosecutors say he was found with child pornography.
John T. Palmer, 69, pleaded guilty on Sept. 11 under a negotiated sentence of six months' time served in Dutchess County Jail and was released on a one-year interim probation, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
Palmer was charged with possession of a sexual performance of a child, a class E felony, by state police Nov. 18, 2022 after authorities say law enforcement received a tip from a member of the community.
Palmer is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 11, 2024. Prosecutors say they will recommend he serve 5 to 10 years on probation and be required to register as a sex offender.
