An off-duty Port Jervis police officer saved a man who overdosed in his car.
Port Jervis Officer Ryan Kievit was headed home from a late-night work shift earlier this month when he saw a truck sideways across Route 6 in Greenville.
Officials say Officer Kievit saw a 25-year-old driver unconscious with a hypodermic needle nearby and broke the car window to get him out.
The officer called 911, administered Narcan and began CPR, which ultimately saved the man's life.
Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden says the department is "extremely proud" of the officer and his professionalism.
