Popular Westchester beaches closed due to elevated bacteria

County health officials say more than an inch of rain fell over the past 24 hours, leading to elevated bacterial contamination in the water.

Several popular beaches were closed in Westchester Friday morning because of heavy rain.

County health officials say more than an inch of rain fell over the past 24 hours, leading to elevated bacterial contamination in the water.

The affected beaches are:

  • MAMARONECK

    : Harbor Island, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, & Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club

  • RYE

    : Coveleigh Club

  • NEW ROCHELLE

    : Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Club, Greentree Club, & Surf Club

The beaches are allowed to reopen on their own on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 unless significant additional rainfall is observed.
