Port Chester wood workers have finished a handcrafted chair Pope Francis will use when he celebrates Mass at Madison Square Garden.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the head of New York's Catholics, unveiled the chair Wednesday morning.
The immigrant carpenters constructed the chair over the past three weeks.
"These are down-home, good, hardworking people, salt-of-the-earth people who have put their sweat and soul into this," said Dolan.
It is not known where the chair will wind up after the Mass, but the chair built for Pope John Paul II for his visit to St. Joseph's Seminary in 1995 is still in Yonkers.
The pope will visit Madison Square Garden on Sept. 25. Some 20,000 people are expected to be at MSG to pray with the pontiff.
