Nine pop-up homes are nearly ready to hit the market in Yonkers with showings scheduled to start in a couple of weeks.
The modular homes will make up Helena Heights, a new community on Helena Avenue, off of Central Park Avenue. The homes are almost totally constructed at a factory and are shipped in four boxes. The parts are then bolted together to create a house.
Developer Pat Crosbie says the houses are built to withstand traveling on oversized trucks going 80 mph.
Real estate broker Deborah Valentino says she expects the homes to sell quickly, since most of the work done in the area is commercial, not residential.
The homes will go for about $650,000. Staged showings are set to begin the second week of August.
