Police: Wrong-way driver charged in death of motorist on Hutchinson River Parkway

According to investigators, the department received several 911 calls around 5 a.m. about a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes that had crashed with another car.

A driver was killed early this morning in a wrong-way crash on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Rye Brook, Westchester County police say.
According to investigators, the department received several 911 calls around 5 a.m. about a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes that had crashed with another car. It happened about a half mile south of King Street.
When officers arrived, they found the car struck by the wrong-way driver engulfed in flames. The driver inside was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wrong-way driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to get medical treatment.
Neither driver has been identified.
Traffic was being diverted this morning off the northbound side of the parkway at Ridge Street. One lane of traffic on the southbound side is closed to allow for the investigation.
