A thief held up a woman in a bank parking lot in Elmsford today.

The robbery occurred at around 10:30 a.m. outside the M&T Bank on Saw Mill River Road as the woman exited the bank with cash.

Police say the unidentified customer was placing a green grocery bag with the money in the trunk when the thief approached her. While he didn't take out a gun, she says he made a gesture that led her to believe he was armed.

Police don't know exactly how much money was stolen and they aren't sure yet if the victim was targeted.
