Police say a driver is wanted for striking two people in Suffern Saturday evening.
The hit-and-run happened near the intersection of Orange and Lafayette avenues.
Police say a sideview mirror from the vehicle fell off during the accident.
Witnesses and friends say the victims are a husband and wife. They say the couple just left Suffern's annual Holiday Parade and had stopped to pick up dinner.
Witnesses say the vehicle struck the husband in the arm before it struck his wife and knocked her to the ground. The driver then continued south on Orange Avenue toward the New Jersey border.
Police on the scene say the woman suffered a severe head injury. Both the husband and wife were rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital.
Police say they spoke with several witnesses, but do not have a description of the fleeing vehicle or the driver.
This is the second hit-and-run incident in Rockland County in a little more than a week.
Last week, an 75-year-old man was struck and killed by a fleeing vehicle on Route 9W in Haverstraw. The driver was caught and arrested less than a day later.
