Eastchester police say an alleged scammer is using a boy's battle with cancer to steal money.
Officials say someone is going door-to-door asking for donations to pay for 13-year-old Nicholas DiMarzo's cause. DiMarzo's family say they did not request or authorize anyone to raise money on their son's behalf.
As News 12 has previously reported, the Eastchester middle schooler was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
There are real charities out there for DiMarzo, but police want residents to be on alert.
They are asking anyone who sees someone come to their door regarding the cause to call police immediately at 914-961-3464.
