An Ulster County man is facing charges after reportedly driving while intoxicated with children in the car, according to New York State Police.
Officials say the incident occurred on Feb. 9 just before 10:30 p.m. when troopers stopped 49-year-old Michael Edwards at a checkpoint and observed that he had two children under the age of 16 in his car.
Edwards subsequently failed the field sobriety test and was taken to state police headquarters in Highland for processing, where he recorded a 0.10 percent BAC.
Edwards was arrested for two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, a Leandra's Law felony. He was issued multiple tickets returnable to the Town of Lloyd Court on March 6 and then released to a sober third party.
