A Hawthorne liquor store was broken into overnight and burglarized by a group of suspects.
The burglars smashed the front door of Wine and Spirits at around 4:20 a.m., according to one of the owners. News 12 met up with the co-owners of the liquor store as they were boarding up their front door.
They shared surveillance footage of the incident with News 12. The video shows the group take expensive bottles and two registers. One of those registers was filled with coins and the other had around $60 in donations for the SPCA.
One of the owners says he was notified about the incident around 5 a.m. when Ossining police knocked on the door of his home and said that Mount Pleasant police were seeking to contact him about a burglary.
The owner said they are "traumatized" by the event and added that this is the second time in 10 years that their liquor store has been burglarized. He said that they wanted to make repairs and board the store up Sunday morning so it could be open for customers prepping for the Super Bowl.
