Criminal charges are pending against a 15-year-old Pleasantville girl, who was allegedly behind the wheel in a crash that killed three teenage boys in Pennsylvania Sunday morning.
Police say the girl, whose name has not been released, had taken her father's SUV without permission to pick up five friends for breakfast in Paupack Township in the Poconos, where her family has a home. Police say the girl was unlicensed.
Witnesses report the SUV was traveling at excessive speed along Goosepond Road when it lost its right tire around a curve and flipped multiple times. Three boys were killed. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor injuries.
Pleasantville Superintendent Mary Fox Alter says the high school will have emotional and educational support available Thursday when school begins.
