Police say someone made a false call alleging a bomb threat at an apartment complex in Rockland Count Wednesday. 

Police say the false call around 12 p.m. reported a domestic dispute and bomb threat at the Hillcrest Point apartments in Spring Valley.

Local and county police swarmed the roads around the nearly 300-unit apartment complex off North Main Street in Spring Valley right after the call came in.

The caller alleged the threat was happening at 158 West Sneden Place. When police arrived, they say they found no suspicious activity and deemed the threat wasn't credible.

They say the whole thing was a swatting incident. Swatting is when someone purposely tricks police into thinking there's an emergency situation at another person's address.

No one was injured and the incident was quickly cleared.

Police say they traced the call to California and are investigating the incident.

Swatting incidents have been on the rise in the Hudson Valley and across the country in recent years, prompting many politicians to call on the government to make swatting a federal crime.
