Authorities say hundreds of marijuana plants were grown among eggplants and other vegetables on a private property in Ossining, just blocks away from Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
Ossining police say they received a tip about the plants and put surveillance on the Hunter Street property, but never apprehended anyone.
Police and crews from the Department of Public Works ripped out the 450 marijuana plants weighing 350 pounds, which will be incinerated.
Ossining Police Chief Joseph Burton says the owner of the property didn't know the hill had become a marijuana farm, and he is not expected to be arrested.
