Luis Sanchez, 38, of Manhattan, was arrested and charged with assault and obstruction of governmental administration after allegedly abusing his girlfriend in a parking lot on North Liberty Drive in Stony Point.
On August 4, around 7:30 p.m., Sanchez reportedly placed his girlfriend in a headlock and struck her. A passerby attempted to intervene, but Sanchez tried to run them over with his car.
The passerby defended themselves with a baseball bat, damaging the car's windshield.
Sanchez was arraigned at the Stony Point Justice Court and is being held at the Rockland County Jail, with a court date set for August 27.
