A young man with autism was struck by a car on Cooper Drive near Boston Post Road in New Rochelle Monday morning, police say.
The 20-year-old victim lived in the neighborhood, police say.
Investigators say it appears to be an accident.
The man reportedly ran into the street in an area that neighbors say has low visibility due to cars frequently parked on both sides of the street.
The victim is hospitalized in stable condition, authorities say.
